This past weekend was the IMSA event at beautiful Road America. A lot was on tap for me throughout the weekend, including working as a coach and providing the pre-race hot laps for Mazda and IMSA. In retrospect, I realize how similar my weekend was to the event at Watkins Glen in July.

I had a blast at Road America. I enjoyed helping Ashton Harrison gain another podium result in the Lamborghini Trofeo Series, and it felt great to put plenty of smiles on the faces of our Mazda VIP guests during the hot laps. A lap around Road America is a real eye-opener because it’s four miles of pure speed with a unique rhythm and layout.

I was really impressed with Ashton’s performance this weekend as she outpaced all the other Am drivers in the series. She is certainly showing tons of progress! She and I are both looking forward to the next event, which will be at my home track of Virginia International Raceway in just a couple of weeks.

Kudos goes out to Mazda Motorsports once again, as they have now completed a hat trick by winning three races in a row in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship Prototype class. It’s a fantastic result after all of the effort that has gone into the program.

I hope to see everyone out for the IMSA event at VIR from August 24-25. It’s coming up soon!
