Last week was the end to a whirlwind of travel for me. It capped off at one of my favorite places, Watkins Glen. I was there supporting the JDX team and their Carrera Cup test. It was the first time the team drivers had visited this iconic track, and I was excited to be a part of the experience with them.

We were able to have a very productive couple of days as we got both the drivers and the cars dialed in. We had stunning weather, too: it was in the mid-70s and sunny, which just made the feeling of being at Watkins Glen all the more special and allowed us to maximize our testing time.

As part of the test, I got to do some driving, as well. Getting to drive the Porsche 992 Cup car around this incredible circuit reminded me why it’s one of my favorites. The fast, flowing nature of the corners combined with some significant elevation changes really test a driver’s commitment to staying on the gas pedal!

The team will return to Watkins Glen with IMSA in less than a month. It will be a busy event, with not only the classic six-hour endurance race, but also many series, including Mazda MX-5 Cup, Carrera Cup and Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

The test was a great success, but the work isn’t done yet. We left the test with a few specific goals to work on so we can be that much stronger when we come back later this month.
