The last week has been a whirlwind, with a couple of track days at VIR, followed by heading from Watkins Glen to Mid-Ohio. I’ve been fortunate to have some beautiful weather over the last couple weeks, with sunny spring skies and moderate temperatures. Plus, it’s been a lot of fun getting to work with a variety of drivers and do some driving myself across the different tracks.

Earlier this week, I was at Watkins Glen for an Apex One test. The TR3 team was there conducting their team test prior to the next round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, which will be a part of the IMSA weekend at Watkins Glen.

Once again, I was working with Dean Neuls, and I was excited to share one of my favorite tracks in the U.S. with him, since it was his first time at the historic venue. This was my first trip to Watkins Glen this year, which always feels good. I just love being up there.

Dean had logged a lot of laps on the simulator in advance, which really helped his learning curve, but nothing can replace that initial impression of just how steep the elevation changes are and navigating those uphill esses.

After a successful first day of testing, we took the second day to focus on some of the finer points to optimize specific corners. We came away with a good handling race car and a confident driver, which was a perfect combo heading into the race next month.

Coming off of solid double-podium results at Laguna Seca, Dean is excited to keep pushing forward in the championship fight. I’m optimistic for his chances when we get back to Watkins Glen next month.

Meanwhile, I’m currently heading to Mid-Ohio for another Apex One test, which will be the precursor for the next IMSA round at that track, including MX-5 Cup and the Michelin Pilot Challenge 4-hour race. It will be my first visit to that track this season, as well, and I’m looking forward to a couple of days there before wrapping up my whirlwind schedule.
