I’m looking forward to a busy week ahead with the annual IMSA trip to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, better known as Mosport. So many memories come to mind when I think about this historic track. With its daunting high-speed corners and massive elevation changes, this “old school” style circuit does not disappoint.

I’ve got so many stories from Mosport, dating all the way back to my first years of pro racing in the Miata Cup series. Later, I was at Mosport for Grand-Am Cup, which is now known as Michelin Pilot Challenge.

I found success in both series at this fantastic track, with race wins and front-row starts. In more recent years, I was at Mosport with the Mazda prototype program and the Lola LMP2 car on the DPi platform. The thrill of this track is on another level in a prototype, with its added downforce grip and high speeds. A prototype makes a lap of the 2.5-mile circuit in just over a minute!

The last time I was at Mosport with the Mazda prototype program was also the last outing for that car, which makes returning to that track even more memorable for me.

After Mosport, there will be one more stop for me before I head home. I’ll be off to Road America for the first time this season, coaching for Lamborghini Super Trofeo during an Apex One track day. That will kick off many more trips to Wisconsin over the next couple of months.
