It’s an exciting week ahead as it’s the kickoff to the 2024 racing calendar with the Rolex 24 at Daytona. This is always such an exciting event, whether you’re a competitor or a fan. There is something for everyone, and despite a very cold Roar Before the 24 this past weekend, the forecast for this coming week looks beautiful: we’re going to get that warm, sunny Florida weather we all look forward to.
Not only is it the 24 Hours of Daytona, but it’s also the kickoff for several other sports car series, including Mazda MX-5 Cup. We’ve got lots of new things in store for the series this year, including a new presenting title sponsor in Whelen, as well as a new spec tire from Michelin. Having done a substantial amount of the testing last season with this tire, I’m excited to see the competitors running on it for the first time.
We also have many new faces in the series, with our Mazda Shootout scholarship winners joining the lineup as well as some other rookies.
The Mazda MX-5 Cup series never disappoints at Daytona! Everything kicks off Wednesday with on-track practice in preparation for the double-header weekend.
